It appears that whatever symbol the truck is trying to display is not being rendered correctly. It would be best to scan for trouble codes. Most auto parts stores will do a scan for free.

 

You could do a battery disconnect for 15 minutes to see if the symbol correctly displays after you reconnect and restart.

 

Could be a partially displayed GAS CAP Symbol.

The symbol is still being displayed although it looks slightly different now.

Tom-G: There were no appreciable trouble codes set. I have a WiTech setup on a PC and was able to go in and look at all of them Those that were were minor and old. I cleared all the trouble codes but yet the symbol is still displayed.

Following Richard66's suggestion, I disconnected the battery for a couple of hours. Upon reattaching it, the symbol is still there and still improperly displayed.

RamRog001: I though that too about the gas cap symbol, but if you delve into the manuals it appears that symbol shows up in the odometer block, not the compass/temperature block.

Using the WiTech, I tested all the alerts I could in the instrument panel cluster, nothing showed up in that block.
