Hi guys sorry if this is stupid. Is it possible to add the in floor storage boxes after purchase? Just wondered if it was possible and if anyone knew how difficult it is to do?

Gee...not sure if you can or not.

Sounds like you would either 1) cut out the floor panel back there to accommodate the bins, or, 2) contact the dealer to see if the entire assembly (floor panel, bins, doors, etc...) is available.

I would think that the rear floor panel is snapped into place and is easily removed and replaced with the storage bin setup but I'm just guessing here.

I stand to be corrected, but I was of the impression that all crew cabs came with them. :4-dontknow: If your truck is a quad cab, installing them.....nicely....might be quite a challenge as there is not enough floor space. As I have a quad cab, and really liked the idea, I found that units for the crew cab were too long to fit.....or should I say.....if you install them, you can't open the lid with out moving the front seat all the way forward. Too much hassle for me.

I am thinking of installing the storage vault under the drivers floor board. That is the best place IMO for valuables or a CW. The box is an option for 09 and newer I believe. The gun vault aftermarket for my truck is designed to go in the center console on the bottom which may be the way I have to go. There are a lot of storage vaults on the market for even below the back seat area that are pretty nice and made for certain model trucks. I would go with an after market vault or storage if you want something for under the back seat. Hunters do it all the time now since you don't really want to put your guns in window racks like we did when I was younger.

dot say your outta luck...i like ultraflames idea of putting under the front seat...you have the extra room and that would give me a place to put all the goodies i have stored under back seat when i do new stereo....cant wait to get home and have a look to see if it possible...9 more days :p anyone with a 09 quad cab feel like looking for me? lol

Just some perspective from a guy that has these boxes standard. If what you want is a fun project- do it. Probably involves a little problem solving - not too much skill and a few too many dollars.
From the standpoint of just how useful they are....
I've had em for 3+ years and put cold beers in them 2 times.
It is way way easier to put a few drinks in a small cooler. period.
If you have floor mats they better be the kind that are flexible or you'll never want to fight them to get in/out.
If you have long legs and have the seat back in the back 1/4th of the track- gotta move you seat to enter.
I'm sure some use them all the time but truth for me is... they hold jumper cables and emergency lights.
I had rope and tie downs in there at first but I access those too often so now they are under the rear bench set that is easier to get to.
Not trying to shoot down your plans- just info to help decide if you really want em.

I have them in my 2010 crew cab. They aren't the most useful things and with a lot of traffic in the back seat the lids get broke, and the plastic liners crack with heavy use. Having said that,-I do use them to store Tire chains and tie down straps, and other small tools to help keep the cab floors clear of stuff, I had to replace a lid and the plastic liners but instead of buying them from Dodge I went to the local wrecking yard and removed them from a wrecked vehicle, the cost for two complete boxes, liners and lids was less than $50. You should be able to lift the floor mat and see it the holes are stamped or metal plugs outlining the holes are there, if they are remove the plugs and insert the boxes, I think they are held in with Six Loooong screws for each box.
