I don't see why Arrington, B&G, or Diablo couldn't flash a 2012 Hemi HD PCM with our VIN from our 1500 Hemi or force flash the 66rfe trans control file to our 1500 PCM. I have no problem losing MDS, turned it off every time I loaded a tune anyways.

I'm not sure if it would work with a 4.7. You probably wouldn't be able to use a Superchips do the custom tune necessary for the transmission/engine combo. Most likely will have to send your PCM to one of the above for the custom PCM flash.

Josh get it done! Then when I blew up my next 545 we can swap mine with ease.

To transengineer...
What is the HP/tq capability of the 66rfe? Also is it Plagued by the same mushy shifting that burns up clutches faster than normal in higher torque applications.

The 545 uses double sided clutches.. Does the 66 use the same or single sided ones like the 68

1. Sorry, we do not publish horsepower and torque capacity ratings for our transmissions. Obviously, those limits are greater than or equal to the HP and torque of the production engines with which they are used.

2. The shift controls for the 66RFE are basically similar to the 65RFE (except, of course, for using all 6 gears during normal operation). I would note that you should probably expect clutches to burn up "faster than normal in higher torque applications," especially if by "higher torque" you mean levels that exceed the holding capacity of the clutches. Even at lower levels, higher torque = more heat generated during a speed change = higher clutch temperature = earlier failure.

3. The 66RFE uses double-sided input clutches (UD, OD, and Reverse) like the 545RFE/65RFE. It uses a single-sided LR clutch pack, common with the 68RFE. I would also note that starting in 2014 MY, the 66RFE will use a (double-sided) OD clutch pack with thicker separator plates, for greater heat capacity.

i'd love to swap a 66rfe into my 13. coming from the GM world. many truck owners including myself with big hp engines, swap the 4l60e with a 4l80e. hptuners makes it very easy to make this happen on the pcm side. a few extra wires to run to the pcm and a modified crossmember is all it takes. now if hptuners will ever support dodge....

I was talking to a customer at the dealership
i was just getting a normal service
he was preparing for a LONGGGG trip

He was telling me about the transmission that he had in his 2008 1 ton flatbed
it was the stock transmission, but had a Gear Vendors Inc part that gave him an Extra gear & he was a happy camper

^I've seen that before unfortunately I don't think they have anything for the 45rfe/545rfe/65rfe
