Sweet! I should be doing this in the next couple weeks. Might wait till I'm at the track to do back to back passes for comparison. Any updates on how the truck has been running with it? And I was reading that you could just use a ziploc bag to catch the coolant, is this true? Does this tstat have a fail safe?

I wouldn't re-use any coolant coming out of the engine. My truck has been running consistently around 185-190 with my fan set to come on around 190. No issues to report still. U can't adjust ur fan settings without a tuner so hopefully no code is thrown on ur truck

I guess if I throw a code I could just go pick up coolant and pop the stock one back in and then take off the battery cable to reset right? No major damage should occur?

Are you going to leave your mechanical fan installed? If you are then you shouldn't have any issues. If you remove your mechanical fan then you risk getting the engine very hot while idling for long periods, or in stop and go traffic. I think it'd get up to 222 deg F before the electric fan came on.

Yupp mechanical fan is staying on. Might do efan later down the road as there's a guy local to me with an efan on an untuned truck and has had no issues so far but that'll be a while

Okay , so I've done this mod TWICE today so far .Used the Duralast stat #4128 the first time and got it back together and refilled with coolant . Took it out for a test drive to get it heated up . Had the EVIC on so I could watch the temp went to 210 and still didn't open . Figured I got a bad stat , went to Napa and had them cross the duralast number and got a NAPA part THM-165 says its a 180degree on the box . Replaced and refilled again . Took it out for a ride and same thing 213 and no drop . What the hell , any ideas ? Didn't remove the mechanical fan or reset the electric fan . constantly ran about 203 with factory stat .
