Thanks for the info! I have been wanting to switch to the 180 t-stat and remove the mechanical fan, but with everyone saying you need to adjust the electrical fan settings and no tuner support for the 2011s and up I haven't. What has the outside temp been running in Alabama this time of year, 60s?

I'd think that as long as you are moving you should be fine under normal driving. Even sitting for short periods should be fine. I have the stock tstat and removed my mechanical fan and it takes several minutes for my efan to kick on (set to 206 deg F) and I'm down south where it's hot. My fan never comes on unless I sit still for several minutes. And again this is with the stock tstat.

are you having to add coolant more regularly due to using more to keep it cool in there.... and i got the DSP does it have the ability to regulate my fan tempo?

Silverhemi:

I'm not sure what you mean by using more coolant...the coolant recirculates, so it doesn't use any more than before no matter what temperature the thermostat opens and closes.

Your 05 does not have an electric fan over the radiator like the 4th gens do, so you won't be able to go that route. You'd have to go with an aftermarket efan and controller.

You should not have any issues with a 180 tstat in a 2012.
