Default 2011 oil filter questiob

Will be changing the oil in my truck for the first time soon. Haven't found a good part number for a filter yet. Should it be the same filter as a '10 model?

On a separate note, I have an Amsoil filter for an '07 that will be collecting dust if anyones interested.

Thanks!

Frank

Great question, Frank. My truck has a little over 2,000 miles so I am not ready for an oil change, but I will sift around and see what I can find.

you are the opposite of me, I do a first change early, to get the contminants out, that a new engine has, like the metal shavings etc.
I doubt any new car or truck of mine has ever gone more than at most 1,000 miles before i gave its first oil change.

My truck has around 4,500 miles on it now and it's already had 3 oil changes. One was free!!

Since its the first change, the filter seal is likely going to stick to the block, double check to makes sure it comes off with the filter. Be prepared that the first filter is a pain in the butt to remove..I believe they have a trained gorilla at the factory!

Thanks for the help!

Why 5w20 for the oil change? I was going to use Rotllla 15w40.

Because the MDS system is dependent on oil weight.
