After reading this entire thread, I am stuck asking a couple questions...

I was planning on doing the full mag catback exhaust which is a little more expensive but has the 22" muffler and no resonators (same as blackramhemi) but also has 2.5" pipes instead of 2.25" on stock. Which setup is better? Y pipe and full cat or Y pipe and just muffler as most have done in this thread? What will noise and performance differences be?

I am not too concerned about the prices overall, I work very hard for a living so I can put money into toys :-D

Thank you all for the help.

If price is not an issue for you, do the CatBack and Y pipe mod
I did both and have no regrets, perfect balance of power, sound and looks killer with those Huge polished 5" tips.

No drone in cab at all, and only roars outside the cab at WOT
and its a deep tone roar , never wrappy and raspy like some mufflers

Better yet, if money's no object and you want the Very Best
.... get the CatBack and pair it up with ARH LT headers (that come with a new Y pipe)

After talking to my exhaust guy, I think I'm going to go with the Catback.. ha.

My Super 44's on my charger cost $100 each installed, figured the Magnaflow on the truck would be around the same.. Single in dual out with install runs $200!

For twice that you can get the Catback! lol

Don't forget to figure in the cost of the 5" tips if you had only done the muffler. Those tips can run up to $100 each if you buy them separately. But they are already included in the cat back package. And they look awesome on the Ram. Like you, I did the math and went with the cat back. Don't regret it one bit.

^^^^ HINDSIGHT IS 20/20....OR BETTER: I would have gotten the catback as well, and had the Y put in. If/when I get longtubes with a new Y, I will buy the catback kit

Timmy I gotta ask why? It won't perform any better than what you currently have...

EDIT: For the tips?

Another one Converted!

CatBack has Larger 2.5" Pipe and eliminates the factory resonators = more flow.
(Factory Resonators probably add an extra 20 pounds of useless weight as well)
Measurable difference?, perhaps not, but it sure isn't going to be worse than stock with "just" a muffle swap.
(that you have to pay some midas hack $100 in labor to weld in place)

Pair that CB up with some LT headers and it will be about as good as you can get from head to tip.
Looks sure don't hurt either, kind of bonus having those gorgeous tips! ...a Big Bonus

I'll admit when the CB kit first came out at $900 it seemed a bit high, but when there are dealers posting numbers at half that, as low as $450 for a DIY kit
it's a pretty attractive package anyone one can bolt on in an hour on their driveway.

Oh, and did I mention LIFETIME WARRANTY ???

I'm just wondering why he would change it as he already paid to have a magnaflow Y pipe and muffler installed. The only performance gain would be going from 2.25" to 2.5" dual pipes (IMO no change, or negligable anyway....as the dual 2.25" flow more than the single 3" before it already...) and removing the resonators (again, they are straight through so basically no change)....

Just wondering why spend hundreds more for almost no change in performance...

The place I go to does absolutely amazing work. You should have seen the welds on my Charger's exhaust.. wasn't Midas for sure! lol

My Charger:
2x Flowmaster Super 44's
Rplaced X-Pipe
2x Resonator Deletes
2x Silverline Resonating tips

In total, $330.. That for me beat the hell out of a catback! lol Sadly.. the truck was going to be more..

I mainly did it to Peeve my neighbors

I want the Cat-back.. just waiting until I can drop the coin!
