BakFlip F1 here. No real change in mileage, which means that it helps the aerodynamics of the truck just enough to offset the extra weight.

Its been great so far. Might be a good idea to get in the habit of locking your tailgate, It could be stolen in less than 4 minutes if you don't.

Good idea..never thought of that. I think they want to steal what's inside the bed, but not the tonneau itself...

True. There are 3 bumper pads that keep the cover from touching the paint or window. As far as visibility...side mirrors work fine.

Thanks, Yeah I hear ya on the side mirrors, but if I don't need to have the back window blocked I'd rather not. Just my quirk!

locking tailgate does 2 things in itself,

you can't have your tailgate stolen
you can't have your tail lights stolen, & some thieves cut the wiring that goes to the tail lights pigtail & that can be a BIG hassle

a locked tailgate with a hard tonneax cover, really keeps honest people honest & deters the real thieves

a cover in itself keeps people from using your trucks bed as a trash can

That really depends on how far you open it. Yes when open ALL the way the Bak-flip does block the rear window. However that is only when you want access to 100% of the bed.

If you don't want the window blocked it takes minutes to remove the cover and leave the rails in place.

The other hard folding covers I looked at did not allow for full access of the bed without removing the cover. Several could not be left partially open (say 1 panel folded back) and still be driven because the only locking mechanism was at the front of the bed and the tailgate end of the cover.

The Bak-flips have locking mechanisms on each panel so it can be opened to various points (1 panel, 2 panels, or 3) and still drive at hiway speeds. When opened against the back window it also has supporting arms that lock in place to keep it there.

Humm Thanks Root Beer,

A cover is one of my next big buys.

Just ordered the Mopar Bed Rug and the Mopar Black side steps.
