I experimented with turning off the MDS today, as it was -21C this morning, to see if I could get more heat out of the motor for my morning drive. Seems to have improved the situation quite a bit. 4 cyl = no heat, 8 cyl = happy owner.

Anyone else try this for this reason?

I always do this on below 40 mornings. Your right 8cylinders bring engine up to temp much faster.

I always ran in 4th driving around town up to to 40 mph, anything above that id hit 5th, lately i have been using tow haul instead, it keeps the rpms around 1800 and doesnt downshift all the time and it never drops 4 cyl. i get 18 mpg. on the highway i let the mds do its thing, 25 mpg at 70 mph is awesome

Im in the same boat as this guy. I have an 07. I saw parts about driving in tow/haul but someone else said thats a bad idea. I have a 6 mile round trip commute to work and mds drives me crazy in that short time. Whats the safest way to turn it off short of buying a programmer?
