Default What sub size do you recommend? Cant decide 10 or 12???

Im getting really close to purchasing a new sub enclosure but cant make my mind up weather to go with 10 or stick with the 12 I already have. Im thinking of going with this enclosure http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_500wt_1122
I keep hearing 10 fit and sound better but with a custom enclosure would 12 sound better? Any info. would be great.

Thanks

10's. You don't have the space required to properly put 12's to use.

Thanks for the replies. The box on the link I posted, the guy says it has 1.25cuft of air space per side. Its a fiberglass bottem with wood top. Does this sound real, is it possible to have the much air space on each side.

If I go with the 12's im going with Rockford fosgate HX2 which Ive had for a long time. They require 1.25cuft per sub...

Since you've already got the 12s, I would stick with those.
It doesn't make a huge difference in sound; the only real difference it makes is how loud you can get it before it starts to clip or distort.
As long as you aren't one of those annoying people who likes to shake their license plate, and you want it to sound good instead of obnoxiously loud, the 12s should work.

Especially since the subs you already have are Rockford Fosgate, keep them; they're amazing subs.
1.25 cu ft of air space per side sounds about right.

With the enclosure under the seat you dont have that much air space. I had 2 10" subs under my seat and I kept blowing them due to lack of air. If you get a box made for 12" subs then it should give enough breathing room for the subs.

With 10" subs you feel the bass a little more and the 12" subs you hear the bass more.

I am one of those guys that like his bass loud and thats why I blew my subs. The subs that I had were the Kicker Comp VRs and they handled about 400w RMS and I had 1200w going to the 2 of them. I think that having that much power to them might have contributed to the blowing up haha

i would really question 1.25 of air space! is that inside or outside measurements?
my box is all wood has a depth of 7 1/2 and can fit a magnets size of 61/2" and only has about .8 of actual air space, and i had to raise my seat 1" to clear it.
as far as speaker size if you have the right amount of air space that your speaker calls for, either size will sound good!!!
i think 10's sound better for country, and rock,12's for rap or if you want that big thump!!!
keep us updated on what you choose!!!!!

1.25 is too big for 10", but if you are doin a smaller enclosure consider them. If uyou are .7 cu ft or smaller do 10", bigger do 12".
If they are in the right boxes, you shouldn't be able to tell which you have...a 12 has more cone area, lower FS likely, so likely greater output potential. At a normal level, there should be no difference.

Thanks everyone for all the responces. I went ahead and ordered the 12' box. I figured it is the cheaper route since I already have the subs. I talked to the guy and he said he measured the air space buy filling it with packing peanuts and then measured that. So I should have enough airspace for the subs im running.

The box should arrive just after thankgiving so Ill post pics of my setup and ill let everyone know how they sound.

Thanks again to all
