Default 1993 Dodge Ram Van 250 Conversion Van Shifting Issues

My van didn't have much power. There were shifting issues, from low to 3rd gear, and my mechanic called me this morning to say it was fixed and it was the cable. I try to see if he'll give me more detail, Moday, when I pick it up, in case anyone needs to know 'cause they're having similar issues. I have a good mechanic. He's never failed me yet and that repair was only $45.00. I thought I'd mention that just because a shop doesn't look that modern and fancy, doesn't mean there aren't good mechanics there. Franks Auto Repair in Victorville CA has to have his sign removed because of some city regulation and alot of people don't know they are there. It's hard to see. I found the shop online.

How does it shift , if you manually shift the column from 1st -2nd- drive ? Does it sound like it stays in first when you upshift to second ?

Default No It Goes Into High Gear

My mechanic says it goes from drive to 3rd gear and skips the other gears, causing it to lose power. It's alright when I'm driving on the freeway but as soon as I slow down or stop at a light, I have problems. It isn't staling like it was before I got the new fuel pump, fuel filter and oil filter but it still doesn't have much power. I didn't know where to post this. I hope it's in a good place now. I'm trying to help my mechanic so he has some ideas on what to check. It's hard to diagnose something that isn't seen. Thanks

Your in right section now . From what it sounds to me , you may of lost second gear . Have him manually up shift the trans and see if it hangs in first when upshifted to second gear . You may have a broken band (2nd gear) or internal linkage issues .
