Default Rear Lamp Assembly Stolen

Hi,

I've got a 2005, 2500. Somebody dropped the tailgate last night and stole both my rear lamp Assemblies, and they cut the connector sockets off as well. I can't find any shops in the area that sell those sockets, and the dealer wants $120 for each socket, which seems a bit high to me. As far as I can remember, it's just a 4 wire connection, just like a simple trailer would be on the back. If I buy a new OEM lamp assembly, can I just wire it up like a 4 wire trailer setup? Can't drive it until I get some lights in, kind of sucks. Heh.

Thanks.

You could check ebay for the wire harnesses or check local scrap yards.

Hey,

I thought that would work too, but I can't find a single place that has any! Couldn't believe it. As far as I know, they're the same between 2003 and 2008, but I couldn't find a place that has the socket connectors. I was just hoping that I could use individual bullet connectors if I knew how to do the wiring properly.

Thanks.

Man that just sucks, sorry to hear that! Good luck in locating what you're looking for though and I guess a tailgate lock would be in order, also, I'm thinking about one myself.

That really sucks. AS for getting the assembly from the Dealer, you'd have to ask the parts person if it includes the sockets with "pigtails". Chances are the sockets will not be included and you will definitely need the "pigtails" otherwise the wires you have may not be long enough to reach after you trim them and add on the connectors that go into the socket.

I just had to replace my tail lights for the same reason but my wiring was left intact. I had my parts guys price that part and it came up as $35 each for the repair kit. I'd check with another dealer if I were you. As far as I know that doesn't include any sockets.

earlier this year someone else in here had just tinted their tail lights & they came up missing a couple days later, the wires had been cut on theirs also, maybe they will chime in soon about what they had to do

Sorry to hear about your troubles, you just can't leave anything unattended anymore! Try your local truck shop (18 wheeler) here we have a Fort Gary Industries they sell all kinds of lights and pigtails.

I had mine stolen as well, and again they cut the harness as well. I ended up going to my local yard and had them cut out the back 18" of the harness from a scrapped '08.
