I just checked on the RS9000's. they are double the price of the RS 5000's. i am working with a budget, and probably not looking to spend that much on these. thanks forthe help guys. I think I am going with the RS 5000's.

How much are you paying for the RS5000?? The heavy duty series Bilstein is only like $65 and the 5100 series are only like $75.

the RS5000's are about $50 each. Are the Bilsteins better? I am looking for a comfortable, but slightly stiffer ride quality with new Mud tires.

Yes, the quicklifts are more than 5000s but remember you're getting a spacer as well, so truthfully it's a wash between the two. The Truxxx kit is 200 bucks so the leveling kits aren't cheap.

Yes they are better in my opinion out of the most common shocks they are the best no question until you start getting into fox or kings etc etc. Not sure if your truck has a steering stabilizer or not but if your going with taller wider more aggressive tires I'd put one on there. They don't just make the handling better for you their also good for your truck and tire wear.

I have checked everywhere and contacted several manufacturers, and the 5100's in each (Rancho and Bilstein) won't work on a 2WD. It is a totally different suspension on the 2007. They are coil over shocks, not struts, so the spring sits differently on top and bottom. Here is a link showing what is different- http://***************/forum/3rd-gen...-that-fit.html

With seeing that, can I still use the Bilstein HD's? What part would I use with it, the front would be the ones for a 2500/3500 right, ebcause I would need the extra 2", and get the stock ones for the back? Anyone that has Bilstein HD's please let me know ride quality too. I am looking to order these this week.

So your saying the shocks out of a 3/4 ton 2wd are exactly like your 1500 just 2"'s longer? Here is the part number for a 2007 2wd 2500 F4-BE5-C603-HO for the fronts. Check out shockwarehouse.com they have good prices with free shipping and great customer service.

Yeah thats right. Isn't it crazy!?! this has been a pain trying to figure how to level this thing. You are the man though. thanks for the info. i think I will go with the Bilsteins now since they are only a little bit more, for a better shock.

I just ordered the Bilstein HD's for my fronts and rears. I have the Truxx 2" level kit on the way too. Can't wait to get it all done.

just wanted to give my opinion on ranch vs bilstein. I replaced all four shocks on my old dakota I sold a few months ago with rancho 9000XL shocks. I really didn't notice much of a difference with ride and that was with my stock shocks being shot. After a year or so all of the weld seams were rusting and just didn't appear to hold up well. The ride wasn't bad though I couldn't complain. I have only had the bilstein 5100's on my ram for a few weeks but I've never had such an improvement in ride ever when switching shocks. Unreal difference. It seems that the build quality is better also.
