Default Roll bar/Light bar project, Opinions? Thoughts?

Ok, since I've bought the truck I have wanted to get a roll bar/light bar for it. I have come across many for VERY cheap. The thing that is holding me back is that I really dont want to lose my bed cover.

So I decided that I'll just look for the type that mounts to the bed rails that way I keep my cover. I havent come across anything even close to what I'm looking for, for a decent price. Theres the option of buying new cash is kinda tight plus I'll have to pick up some lights for it as well.

Sooo, I came across this one:

I really like the design of this one. So I have decided to make one myself similar to this. I work at a sheet metal/machine shop so it should be pretty simple. For the chrome rails I have the original chrome bed rails and ends that came with my truck that I took off:

The pipes are a bit long but I can easily cut them down at work.

I figure if I take my time it should come out pretty nice.

What does everyone think?

Go for it! There's nothing like the satisfaction of doing it yourself and having an original.

Shouldn't be a problem to make. Only thing is the chrome will be ****ed up when you have to weld it, but you could just get it re-chromed, painted, or even Line-X'ed.
