I'm looking to get some new wheels and a taller, wider tire. From what I gather from this post, I should be able to do a 35x12.5 tire if I put on a leveling kit. Correct? I've found another site that says to do a 35" tire I would need to lift the truck at least 4". I don't want to have any rubbing but defintely want a taller tire that will stick out a bit more that stock since the TRX4 has fender flares. Also looking for a more aggressive tire and from what I see on this thread I've got a lot of options.

I'd appreciate any help or advice on this since my local tire shops are virtually useless!
I've got 285/75X18 Toyos (34.8" total) with a 4" lift and +18mm offset wheels. It fits just fine but the tire comes REAL close to back corner of the wheel well. The additional height gave me what I needed.

I'd get your local tire shop to do some measuring for you to make sure that if you do go with a wider / taller tire you aren't taking out the flares or fender corners!

Also, that wide of a tire will come pretty close to the inside, maybe rubbing, with stock wheels. Even so, the stock wheel probably won't take a 12.50 tire.

According to the Toyo Open Country A/T specs, an LT 275/65X20 is about 34" & 11" wide so that would be a squeeze height wise.

I couldn't find similar info on the LT285/65X20 but it will be about the same height and should be just 10mm or 0.3937" wider as the 275/65, so that one is a squeeze as well.

I have an 09 1500 Laramie. 2" front/1.5" rear leveling kit going in this week. I have Dick Cepek 35"x12.5" tires and am trying to determine the best wheels.

I like the look of the Eagle Alloy 064. They are 20x10 with 4.64" bs and a -21 offset. The garage that's doing the work is concerned they will rub the fender wells. They are suggesting a 20x9 wheel with bs closer to 5" for better fit.

My alternative is the Eagle Alloy 079. They are 20x9 with 4.64" bs and a -12 offset.

Any comments on these fitting or rubbing would be appreciated.

I was torn with the same question for mine. I liked the 20" wheels but like the look of taller rubber. My choice was easy because the wheels I chose only came in 18". I went with Billstein 5100's to level the front, 18x9 wheels with a -11 offset and 35x12.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers. Looks awesome. Did it three weeks ago and still getting compliments!

Bottom line, I'm not sorry I went with the 18" wheels but I think either way looks good.
