Default Cold air intake

Hello all. Im thinking about getting a cold air intake system for 2003 ram hemi. I live in ontario, canada and around end of oct. to march its cool to well, cold. I was told if i get one i will loose some gas mileage, but my main question is should i take it off and put my stock one on when it gets cold? Do these systems really work and well. K&n system im looking at. Thanks for any insight.

I'm in Calgary so I know about the winter woes... but having a CAI hasn't affected the much at all. My big change is the ram air hood with heat extractors, it knocks the temp way down in the winter and I have some issues with the heater not being that toasty.

Most CAIs won't be affected by the cold, but make sure you keep the air intake clear of snow as it likes to pack around the bottom of the filters.

K&N works great! We've got it on the 07 and it runs like a champ, winter and all.

Here's a link to all the intakes we carry for the 5.7, K&N is in there as well:
