Default Too Quiet

So, I just bought a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Express, "Black Ram", and I love it. It's just a tad bit too quiet. I've been thinking about getting a new exhaust for it but I don't want to void the warranty. My friends have mentioned axel-back exhaust but I don't know too much about those.

Also considering a cold air intake but I'm not sure which set up will go best with the truck.

If anyone could shine some light on this situation I'm in it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Matt

Just how loud do you want it ?

Your current 22" muffler is pretty quiet & then the Resonator(s) even make it quieter
almost all of the high & low sounds cancel each other out

You could put on a Performance Muffler from Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, etc.
the shorter ones will be loudest

I have a 18" Magnaflow & i left the resonators on. It is fairly quiet still
I think that i would leave the Resonators off, if i were to do it again
I now have 110,000 miles on it & it is still a bit to quiet
I put this muffler on at 700 miles

I should have kept the original muffler to give to someone in need
The shop said that they just tossed it in a metal scrap pile
I believe that was just B.S.

If you want it just a bit louder I would recommend the Magnaflow 22". Check out some Youtube vids with a descent set of headphones to get an idea of what to expect. Mufflex makes a bolt-on replacement kit that replaces just the muffler and tips. Or you could just have a shop replace the muffler only. The sound will be more or less the same. The only item that you will void the warranty on by installing a catback or new muffler would be the items that you have changed. Obviously, Chrysler isn't going to warranty your new muffler. Otherwise, no worries.

Certainly to each his own but just my two cents here....

To me, the exhaust should always come before the intake for several reasons. Primarily, you will notice and enjoy your exhaust every single time you drive the truck. You aren't going to know that CAI is there until you pop the hood unless you get one that sounds like a hurricane under throttle. Also, performance gains of intakes for these trucks is debated at best. Dodge/Ram has always done a pretty good job keeping the factory intakes efficient. And lastly, if done correctly you should be able to get a simple muffler swap for half the price of a name brand CAI.

Once again, just my thoughts. Good luck with whatever you decide.
