Default auto daylight running lights

I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500. What I would like to do is set it up so the daylight/parking lights come on when I start the truck and go off when I turn the truck off.

Right now I have to flip them on and off manually. Was wondering if there was a way to wire them up.

I did searches but didnt see anything pertaining to that specifically.

Take it to a dealer and have them program the truck to be a Canadian Model.

I am not sure that can even be done. The switch for the U.S.A. 2002 model only has head lights, parking lights and fog lights, besides the off.

First off look to see if you have some sort of sensor on the dash, usually near where the windshield meets or up behind the rear view mirror.

dont see a sensor, but I may be missing it, it has the overhead thing with the digital screen with temp and everything. May be behind that but cant see up there.

I was just thinking that there might be a way to vanpire it onto my ignition wires or one of the fuze box wires from something that turns on when ignition is off and powers off when ignition is off.

I dont know, guess if it cant be done it cant...just will continue to dial the switch while driving, not a huge deal more a convenince factor.

As far as the canadian one , wouldnt it make my guages read metric?

so I was thinking, I noticed that having my garmin plugged into the cig lighter, it turns on and off with the ignition.

I was thinking of running a line from the lighter wires to the daylight wires on my headlights. Anyone know if that would work? its 12v isn't it?

Yeah that would work. Just gotta find the relay that gets triggered that causes the running lights to come on.

Well with the Canadian thing,.. Your gauges are mostly analog so I'm not sure as to what would change that would be too inconvenient for u. As for the cigarette lighter idea, u might have to upgrade the fuse as the bulbs might pull more current than what the lighter auxiliary plug would normally output. Resulting in annoying popping fuses.
