Default Giles24 - 2012 Outdoorsman 1500 Build

Figured it was about time to start a build page, no matter how slow the process may be lol

Bought my ram in October 2013. Started looking at brand new trucks, but due to lack of auto history I couldn't get the financing I wanted for the amount of truck I wanted. After more research I finally landed on my truck out in BFE east Texas. Got a pretty good deal since they don't sell may cars in the middle of nowhere, good place to look for used cars..almost give them away..and got the financing I wanted. Anyway...landed on this forum and that's all she wrote. I had in my mind how I wanted to mod it out, but I had no idea you could do so much more. This site has nothing but great ideas and opinionated people!!

Enough rambling..here she is with more to come...

Stock:

Pretty sure the first thing I did was clean the engine...

Didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but WOW did it!!
Just because others don't see it doesn't mean it can't be clean...

Next thing I did was add a drop in K&N filter (no pic, we've all seen em)..not much of a performance increase but I could definitely tell she was breathing better!

Started looking around and decided she needed a little dress up, or dress down rather..debadged the "RAM 1500" and plasti dipped the rest

Also added a stubby antennae

Nevermind the pink string...

Not that great of pictures with the lighting and phone camera. Plan on doing a little "photo shoot" when it warms up a bit and get a little green on the trees lol

With the help of Andrew @ Bully Performance I was able to settle on a Magnaflow cat back exhaust system (part #16869) to replace the eye-sore stock single exhaust and at a very sweet price I might add It wasn't too difficult of a swap. Only thing extra I had to get was the rubber grommet on the driver side for the exhaust hanger that was already there. Of course I also had to get a new bumper with the dual cutouts to complete the package, but it was worth it. I know I could have gone with another system and had it come out the bottom or sides, but I love the way the bumper and exhaust sit almost flush.

Very satisfied with the product and the help of Andrew! I think we could probably put together a 'Frequently asked questions' section for this exhaust with all the questions I had lol It's not too loud, yet not too quiet. I get a ton of complements on it.

***Pics and video coming soon once I get these uploaded***

I wanted to paint a bit in the engine bay, but decided I'd try my painting skills on something smaller. Painted the interior silver trim to white, yea, something that everyone can see opposed to the engine bay if I messed up
But I think it turned out pretty well...no before pics cause I was too excited to see the results lol

Well the white trim wasn't enough to satisfy me because I did NOT like the tan interior. With the idea and help from our forum member KARPOSVT and a little research I decided to change this. I went with the product ColorBond (Chrysler Dark Slate) It turned out great!! More appealing to the eye than that awful tan. Also decided to add some carbon fiber accent to it all...

The worst part of this was of course getting the balls to do this lol and taping everything off. The painting was easy and bonded well!

Great looking truck, and awesome job on painting the interior.

Keep us updated on how the color bond holds up... I want to paint the A pillars to match my interior but have been nervous to take that jump..

Giles24, great looking truck. And you're interior mods are awesome. I'm going to need to look into ColorBond. I've never heard of it nor that it was possible to change the interior color like you've done. Have you noticed any downsides to it?

BlkExpress25, I right there with you! I was really surprised when I picked up my Ram with the Black/Diesel Gray interior and noticed that from the windows up it's all freakin tan! I was like, WTF, they put the wrong top on at the factory! Now having seen this thread, maybe there's hope!

Thanks Giles24, I look forward to seeing more of your progress photos.

I haven't noticed any downsides yet other than the god awful smell it put out, it's slowly fading away lol It bonds really well upon application, almost immediately, to the softer vinyl like the doors and center console lid. And what I mean by that was it did not flake or smudge if I scratched it. The harder material, like the under side of the console, was a little different. It did smear a bit to the touch after first applying it so I had to be a little more careful and patient. I haven't messed with it yet to see how well it holds up to a little scratch cause I want it to set for a few days, but just rubbing it doesn't affect it. I will definitely give updates.

I was informed to apply it like plasti dip..light "fog" coats until it's covered and then a few medium coats on top.

I still have the the tan pillars on top, not sure if I want to tackle those cause it doesn't look too bad. Sort of matches my color combos...dark on the bottom, light on top - exterior and interior
