Default Steering wheel shimmy.

Well last night on the way home from work I noticed a shimmy in the steering wheel, almost like a shake. I could let go of the wheel and truck seemed to go straight but wheel was jerking back and forth. This morning it seemed like it wanted to steer by itself but not real serious. I decided to shut the radio off to hear if there was any noise. None until I got in the parking lot and when I turned the wheel it was a good clunking and grinding noise from the front. Took it to the dealer and found out my front axle was shattered ! The truck has like 54000kms on it. Not real impressed, so far I have a leaky rear window grinding door hinges and now a shattered axle. First new Ram I have ever bought (new in 2011). I always bought new Fords but liked the looks and power of the Ram so thought I would try something different as I have always been a MOPAR car guy. Might go back to FORD.

If its actually a front wheel bearing, hub assembly, all 4x4 pickups are prone to failure, regardless of brand. I have almost 200K on my Ram, still ok, my dad had 2 fail on his 06 Sierra 1500. I'll bet the same manufacturer makes em for all the makes, at least the bearings. Spray some lube on the door hinges, I spray mine at every oil change.

Pretty much what Hydrex has said. The only thing I would add to that would be none of the big three truck makers have figured out how to properly seal the third brake light on the cab to stop them from leaking.

Well got a call from the Dealer yesterday, front axle was shattered. The service manager was holding chunks of it in his hand when he called me. I could understand if this truck was used as a truck but I NEVER drive it off road. The hinge is to be replaced because it is not to specs. That's what I was told anyway. lol. Anyway they gave me a 2013 Charger to use for the weekend nice car, just doesn't have the Hemi. lol

Search "3rd brake light leak" for that fix.
I hope your axle issue is covered under warranty still.

In less than 3 years? Assuming normal use.

Yeah they fixed my Ram, replaced the axle. Had one in stock, thought that was kind of odd but I'm happy.

Use a good bike chain lube not from walmart either lol. it goes on like water and coats the inside of the Hinge with wax. Keeps the Hinge from rusting and it keeps the squeaks down. Bike chain wax also cleans the hinge while it lubericates it. No mess except a few drips. But you catch those.
