Default Switching Side Mirrors Question

Hey guys I'm looking into maybe getting a pair of tow mirrors for my sports '11, since the small mirrors aren't really doing the job right. I was just wondering since I have the dim option(?) where all 3 mirrors will auto dim during the night, if I switched my side mirrors would I lose the auto dim in them? Or is it just plug and go and all will be fine?

Thanks!

I have not read a single post where someone successfully switched from tow mirrors to the regular mirrors or vise versa
I believe that the wiring harnesses for each are different

I have a 2010 sport and I switched to factory tow mirrors plug and play but lost the auto dim feature I haven't had time to enquire as to why but all other features work fine

I've been wondering the same thing. I'd love the tow mirrors on my Big Horn but I love the auto dim on the side mirrors. Especially on night trips up north!

Yes, I've made this swap. The tow mirrors are not auto dim, and the right side mirror is also not a things-in-this-mirror-May-be-closer-than-they-appear mirror, either. The signal lights are also on the front of the mirror and not aft facing like the sport mirrors.

Some things to think about :-)

Chris

I bought some after market tow mirrors, lost the auto dim, i cant find any tow mirrors with the auto dim feature. The plug is the same. The mirrors blinded me at night, i guess i got used to the auto dim feature with the stocks. I switched back to the originals and bought some strap on mirrors for camping, they work fine.
