Default Replacing rear stock springs with OE airbags

I've got a '14 sport crew 2WD that I'd like to drop a little. I would like to start with the rear and airbags are the best ticket for me since I plan on towing with it later. Will the OE airbags bolt into place of the original coil springs? I would like to have something that is engineered specifically for the truck and not destroy the ride quality too bad. I plan on putting and aftermarket pump, reservoir and control though. Has anyone tried this?

I assuming your wanting to add the Ram stock airbag setup on the rear and use your own controller to adjust ride height? Otherwise Im misenturpreting your post.

If you currently have springs in the rear I would suggest getting a levelling kit/lowering the rear 2" with an aftermarket spring and using an Airlift helper bag setup to use for towing. This would be the safest and most cost effective.

Adding the factory airbag units and trying to control them on your own will not only cost you gobs more and need a lot of aftermarket adaptability, but has not been ventured into yet in terms of how user friendly they are externally from the OEM setup.

What exaclty are you trying to do?

That's exactly what I'm hoping to do. I figure an air spring that is engineered by the manufacturer is a much better choice than a universal one. It doesn't look like there is much hardware difference with the mounting.
