Thanks brother! I really like the Line-X so far. I've only hauled a couple 2x4s and a sheet of plywood so I haven't really put it to any test yet. The Line-X dealer that sprayed it in (Line-X of Belleville, IL) did a great job! They made an appointment on a Saturday morning, we dropped it off, grabbed a relaxing breakfast and in about 2 hours it was ready to go! It looks like it was applied in a uniform manner and I couldn't be more pleased. I went with their spray in that wasn't as UV protected but was more durable. I'm going to have a tonneau cover on it by the weekend so the UV protection isn't a big deal for me. Makes me wish I would have done it on my 2000 Dakota years ago.

So I got my bug deflector, running boards and tonneau cover in about a week ago. Finally had a chance to get them installed - well almost...

First to go in was the Lund Interceptor bug deflector. Install was easy! Pop the hood, put it in place (helps to have another set of hands but not necessary), push in the anchor screws in the factory holes, tighten and DONE! Oh, and put on the 4 rubber bumpers. Easy Peasey!!! I didn't get any flapping or vibrations from it when driving around. I highly recommend this bug deflector!!!

Next to go on was the BestTop tonneau cover. Installation was pretty much a breeze until I went to unroll the cover to fine tune the placement of the rails to find out that the catch was broke!!! So, off the truck and into the box it went. The catch mechanism does seem really cheap/poor design. I returned it and have an Access TonnoSport cover instead. The thing that attracted me to it was that it is a low profile cover. It is said to stick up only 1/2" above the bed.

OK, so now I'm 1 for 2. The Westin Pro Traxx 4" oval running boards should be easy, right? I open the box and read the direction which are a little confusing first off. It's not until you get under the truck and figure out what they are saying does it make sense. These install in the factory holes in the rocker panels, no drilling required. I get the first bracket install loosely no problem. I go to install the second and drop the bracket in the rocker!!! Dumbass me forgot to put the plastic retainer on it so that wouldn't happen. So after about 15 minutes of trying to fish it out with a magnet and a pair of angles needle nose pliars, I go tit out and installed the rest of the brackets. I hadn't torqued down the nut-certs (or really anything) yet, I just wanted to make sure everything was going to line up first. I go to lay the running boards on the brackets and find that the rearward holes are off my about 3"!!! WTF I'm thinking to my self and outloud to my buddy helping me!!! We go over the instructions multiple time and can't figure out what's going on. It's getting late and I had to drive the truck to work in the morning so off the brackets came. Before doing so, I jumped online to make sure I have the right set. Sure enough I do. So the next day I call Westin to see what's going on. Come to find out, the rear most brackets need to be swapped from the driver's side to the passenger's side and vise-versa. This is something that was left out of the instructions in early production runs. So back out to the truck I go. I put the brackets on as per the Westin tech guy's guidance and they line up!! Yeah!!! I go back and snug everything down and we are good to go!!! I really like these running boards, they are sturdy and look like they will stand the test of time. Time will tell of course!

And here's a couple shots of both the bug deflector and the running boards...

Thanks Bro! Would love to lift her up, just not in the cards for the NEAR future. Still have a 'Cuda I need to finish restoring. Been really bad about giving the 'Cuda the attention she deserves lately!

Got the return money back from the broken BesTop and ordered received my Access TonneauSport tonneau cover. One of the things that really drew my attention to this cover is that it was a low profile cover. Install was a breeze. It too no more than 30 minutes to put the cover on. It appears to be really well built and will stand the test of time.
