Default Just Installed RC 2.5"/1.75" Lift, A Few Tips

Hey guys,

I just finished intalling the Rough Country 2.5/1.75" spacer, lift kit and have a few comments.

Time:
Driver side front: 1 1/4 hours (learning)
Passenger side front: 20 minutes
Rear: 20 minutes

The 'self clenching' studs in the front spacer are a cruel joke. They just don't work and are a worthless design. Why the hell didn't RC press in the studs? So a little tip, I used masking tape to hold the studs in place with stabbing the strut assembly of if you have some of those spider washers. Also, stab the stuit assembly though the top three holes and thread on the nuts before you try and fit the bottom. Then, get a friend to push down the lower assemby and use a pry bar to pop it into place. I first tried to muscle it to no avail. A simple pry bar and done. This took 30 minutes to figure out the best way and utter a dozen oaths. Once I figured this out, the passenger side went fast and easy.

RC's directions are pretty good but they get the sizes needed wrong on a few. Make sure you have both a 15 and 16mm wrench for the sway bar. Also, make sure you put a jack under the disc when breaking loose the upper ball joint so that the assembly doesn't flop out on you. The ball joints break loose really easy so be ready.

The before and after measurements are exactly as advertised - 2.5" front, 1.75" rear.

The rear was so easy. It took more time to jack up the truck and take off and put the wheels on than it took to intall the spacers. The rear coils simply fall out and putting them back in is a snap.

Overally, I am happy with the lift. It was pretty easy to install in my driveway with just a metric socet and wrench set. It was a three beer install but if I had to do it again, it would be a two beer. The truck rides exactly the same as far as I can tell.

So, any fellow RAM'ers need help in the Katy, TX area, hit me up. There is no reason why anyone with basic hand tools can't intall one of these lifts.

I have 33x12.5's on the stock 20's and they look small. 35's should not be a problem at all but no funds for those at the moment.

Here you go. The truck was 2 1/4" taller in the rear than the front before the lift. Now, it is 1 1/2" higher in the rear.

Looks great man. Amazing what a level/lift can do for these trucks.

Looks good man!
I went with bilsteins up front, 1,25" RC body lift, and 2" Rear coil spacers in the rear.

Find they sit nice with a set of 35s under them, not to high and not to crammed.
