Default Soldering Resistor to LED Bulb Help

I am trying to fix the issue of an error message of my lights being out because I just installed LED's for my cargo/3rd brake light and my license plate lights. I am using a 100 Ohm - 1 Watt resistor for a 194 LED bulb. I do not know where exactly to solder it. Onto the bulb itself or into the socket? I have also seen that I only need to use one for the cargo/3rd brake light (socket with 2 brown and 2 black). Some help with this would be great! I couldn't fin any answers in the forums that already deal with these issues.

On my cargos i only added 1 resistor. I just stuck it into the back of the plug. Where the wires comes into the plastic. On my map lights i just pushed the resistor in with the bulb too. I only soldered to my dome light. I went to each side on the metal on top of the bulb

Awesome, so just to clarify, you pushed the resistors leads into the back of the socket? The resistors don't touch the bulb? Could I also do this with my license plate lights?

Correct. I stuck the resistor in and just bent them away from the bulb

Thank you. I am going to go outside right now and try this. I hope it works for me because I am driving myself crazy with this LED situation.

Well a few days ago I installed LED's into my two cargo lights, 3rd brake light and two license plate lights. All work fine and look awesome. Now I get the error message that my license plate lights and right rear brake light is out. So I've researched and learned I need resistors. I bought 100OHM 1 Watt resistors. But now I have no idea how and where to solder them onto the bulb (if it's even supposed to be on the bulb). I've been trying to find any sort of tutorial or photos of what I need to do and I can't find anything. So I'm going to try your suggestion. I want to purchase some more for my tail lights and reverse lights but I'd love to not have to go through this situation. And I don't know if I am able to use canbus bulbs or not.

I know that the tail lights require a large resistors which I will purchase when I order the bulbs. But for the cargo and license plates?

I suggest that any further bulbs you buy are canbus ones... Then you don't need to worry about resistors.
