I can't immagine that swapping anything out, post-CAT, would have any negative impact on the engine; apart from increasing backpressure making the engine work harder to expel the gasses?

I'm no performance expert... but logic would indicate that opening up your exhaust would only do good. Of course, if you can't keep your foot out of the floorboards because it just sounds so damn sexy with your new exhaust.... then yes, your mpg will suffer.

On the exhaust after the Cat, is a single pipe system, there is a muffler and a resonator.
Changing out the muffler may get you some sound???

Noise usually comes from a heavy foot.
Loss of MPG???

If it was rusted out than maybe I would get a louder muffler.

I just can't see cutting out brand new parts on a V6. I must be getting old and cheap.

Good luck with your MOD. and let us know what you did and how you made out.

Greg

Smile Dual Exhaust on 2014 3.6 Pentastar 4X4ST Quad cab

I have just read all the topics on the new 3.6 Pentastar, I just received my Ram 1500 St Quad Cab 4X4. I own a 1989 1st Gen Dodge 3/4 on a one ton chassie. Great truck Great fuel milage. 327,000 Miles . Been buying Diesel since it was build, Looming $4.00 to 5.00 fuel cost is why I bought a Ram 1500 V6. I was and am an old' motorhead frome the 50,60's and 70's. So, for for this reason I ordered an after market duel exhaust for my 3.6 for the "look" out the back and sound of the truck - V-6 or not. I am now breaking it in and getting 18.8 miles per gallion not bad. Happy with the new look and feel for the truck.

The duel exhaust was ordered and purchased at the accessory shop at my dealer and will be mounted this commoing Monday in Idaho I was told this addition did not modify my warrenty. I think there is more to come with this engine as far as mods are concerned. Fuel cost will be the motivating facter here. I am a "newby" here but not to the Mopar family.

Welcome to the forum!

Let us know how you made out. Give us all the details and some pictures. Not a lot of Pentastars here.

Default Dual Exhaust on v6

Checkout blackrain86 threads, he added the Hemi exhaust. He has posted videos. It sounds great. He stated the Hemi pieces bolt right up and that the aftermarket exhaust kits should bolt up. I love the look of the Hemi duals and plan it in the future.

just my .02:

If you are already interested with modding the 3.6L engine, I would have gone with the Hemi. Just saying... These aren't built for raw power, but the combination of a truck with good MPG... IMO

just my 2 cents...
I don't want any troubles or argue with any member but should we think about avoiding saying that we should have a Hemi on the 3.6 section...
I swear that I will never go to the Hemi section to say that they should get a Pentastar.
I don't want 600 HP like some Hemi fans, I just love my V6 truck and want to know my options and read about other members experiences.
Just my opinion.
