Default Tire selection advice

New to the forum, I have a 2013 2wd quadcab pentastar with 8 speed.

I am looking, and preparing for changing the tires on the truck and looking for input.

I would like a more aggressive tire, so that I don't get stuck in wet grass. I do sometimes find myself on boat ramps and semi muddy roads, nothing a normal 2wd shouldn't be able to handle. I don't want to sacrifice my fuel mileage or too much of the ride. Tall order right?

Any input would be appreciated

The BFG All Terrain might be a good choice.

Agreed. BFG has always been good to me in off road situations. I think even the BFG Rugged Terrains would be a step up from the factory Goodyear SR-A's, which I make no secret of having nothing but utter disdain for.

I'm not a huge fan of the Rugged Terrains, but, yeah, they'd be a big step up from the gawd awful factory SRA's. Those things are pathetic. I really like the AT/KO's, but for a 2WD where he's putting ride and MPG as priorities, the Rugged Terrains would maybe be a better fit for his application?

Maybe Cooper Zeon LTZ's, they are supposed to handle very well on and off road, sort of a street tire/off-road hybrid compound.

Thanks for the advice. I have been looking at a couple of michelin tires the LTX ms2 and the all terrain version. I know the LTX is kind of the same tire as the Stock goodyear, it just looks stronger. The stock tires just give that blow out at any sign of gravel feel to me.

I am not sure if I want to try an AT tire yet. I have had MT's and AT's on jeeps and other vehicles and no matter what they ride rough. I spend 99 percent of my time on the road and enjoy my smooth and quiet ride. I may be looking for the impossible tire!!!

Default Tires?

My experience with Michelin's LTX MS2 gets rave reviews on my old truck and would recommend them highly for their smooth and quiet ride but be prepared to pay some big bucks for them. Thanks.

I just put a set of Rugged Terrains on my daughters Jeep GC. I cannot say enough about how well these tires are performing. Prior to my CC 1500 I had a Jeep Commander that I put BFG AT's on and really liked them as well. The Rugged Terrains, though really impressed me.

Wow lots of bfg fans. The at/ko is probably the tire I hate the most. Expensive, and if you drive any amount of gravel roads the tires disintegrate.
I'm a Goodyear duratrac fan but they do not fit into your scope
