Default Mangaflow or Flowmaster?

Sorry guys I don't know a lot when it comes to trucks just how to drive em'.

I wanted to find out if changing just the muffler and keeping the stock dual exhaust would be the right thing to do or if I needed get all new pipes.

Also which do you guys think have the best sound for a hemi? I have always had Flowmaster 40 series but I've seen a lot of people using Mangaflow or borla.

Magnaflow is a straight-through design which will help performance (as much as a muffler can)
Our stock exhaust is Stainless steel and of adequate diameter, so simply changing out the muffler is perfectly acceptable, easier and less costly than buying a whole cat-back setup. I did and am very happy.

the magnaflows will have a totally different sound and not be as loud.

I have the FM 40 on my hemi. here are some clips that you can hear it in:

What they said above is spot on.

The straight through(magnaflow) should perform slightly better but won't be noticeable. It will be louder than the chambered muffler(flowmaster) when accelerating but quieter when at low throttle. The stock exhaust is SS but also mandrel bent, so better than what 99.9% of exhaust shops can give you. Stick to only a muffler swap. If you replace the tail pipes from a muffler shop you will likely get mild steel, crush bends, and spend more money.

also, look into the mufflex system, they use magnaflow, and its a bolt on product. really easy and takes about an hour. no muffler shop needed

Which one is better for drone? Nothing is worse in my opinion than have a nice sounding vehicle that drones like crazy at certain RPMs. My CTS-V droned like crazy at 1500RPMs with the Magnaflo exhaust system on it.

What these guys are saying is definitely true. The only thing a bunch of guys change besides the muffler is the y pipe where the two pipes come into one after the headers. It is sort of flattened right there and doesn't give full flow. But I honestly don't think you will ever feel the difference in that or between the two mufflers. I always have run FM 40 series in my other trucks and loved them. I joined on this forum and everyone runs the Magnaflow. So I bought the Maggie and the sound is great, especially WOT, just not loud enough for me. I have had it on for almost a year now, but I am thinking about throwing the 40 series on it. So if you are used to the FM, even the shortest Maggie wont give you the deep tone of the FM. I get a little drone around 1500 rpm, but not bad at all. Nothing compared to the 40 series dumped on my old Silverado lol.

I had the local exhaust shop weld in the 18" Magnaflow on mine. Way less expensive than going the mufflex route (and easier!).

My personal preference has always been Magnaflow because I like the deep rumble over the raspy/bark of the Flowmasters. If there was a power/economy gain, it wasn't substantial enought for me to notice.

Ultimately, get the one that sounds best to you, because sound is really all that ends up changing.
