Default 06 motor swap?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm thinking ahead here of what I'm going to do when/if my engine dies. I've got an 06 1500 megacab, I'm curious if anyone has done an SRT-10 swap, not just with this model but any 1500/2500 gas? Not sure if I'm getting in over my head or not? Any insight is appreciated!

Someone converted an 02 4.7 1500 into a stealth SRT-10. Not sure how well that will work with your 2500 frame/chassis.

That would be awesome, a SRT10 2500.

but, it would be much easier to do a stroker of some kind.

Yes, I've got a 4x4, I was just curious because I thought it would be a pretty fun project in the future.

Anything is possible if you have the money. But it will be expensive to do. As said before you'd be better off doing a stroker build.

Even a simple 5.7 based stroker (392), especially with a good set of heads and the cam it will require will do wonders for that heavy truck. You will need custom tuning obviously. A higher stall converter (based on cam and gears) would help as well. What gears do you have?

I've got 3.55s currently, and with a 5" lift on 37s... she's a little slow. I was looking into getting new gears, but the guy at my local shop quoted me 3k for that, so I've been putting it off.

That's one of the things I was looking into. A local shop quoted me around $3k for the new gears, does that sound right? I mean I know it's expensive for a 4WD but I was expecting around $1500 though.
