Default What's a fair price for Bilstein 5100 shock install?

As title states, what can I expect to pay a shop like Midas or wherever to install Bilstein 5100 shocks on the front of my truck?

Thanks

The average is about two and a half hours labor. So $250ish. I paid $275cdn incl tax and it took the shop way longer than they quoted me for but they stuck to their quote so I threw 'em $300.

I don't see 2.5HRS of labor for front shocks swapped out.

Ah but they're not shocks. They're strut assemblies. If it was an assembly swap, sure. No problem. But having to bring the vehicle in, hoist it, remove wheels, remove the assemblies, disassemble, swap hardware over to new struts, and then get those new assemblies back in to a smaller space because they're longer..
You and I both know this job can take a lot longer than expected for the uninitiated. Hell, I spent 20mins just putting the circlips where I wanted them.
But that aside, shops like Midas will err on the side of caution and I bet you will see labor times quote on the high side more often than not. If those labor costs are a concern, find a smaller shop that will have lower hourly rate staff and lower overheads in general with a stronger desire to be competitive on pricing.

Thanks.
It's not the cost, it's not the desire to be ripped off.
The thing that bothers me about so many shops is, it will take them
realistically 2 hours to do a job, but they quote and charge you for 4 hours labor.
Then casually do the work and walk away for a bit, so it's stretched out to 4 hours.

I found a post where a guy and his buddy did the swap at the buddies shop in 1.5-2 hours.

I installed my 5100's myself, but installed the washer on top of the reservoir cap cover of the strut assembly in the wrong place. After diagnosing the issue, MIDAS fixed my mistake for $150.

Yeah, that was one of the things I told the shop about before they started. I knew it was a common issue so I didn't want them to make the same mistake. And I put the circlips in the right spots for them to save a bit of time. But they had a bitch of a time getting the top nuts off as they had already rusted on in under a year. They ended up calling me and asking if they could cut the oem strut rods and I said sure. It's not like I can do anything with them after the hardware gets transferred over anyway. And then they couldn't get the assembly back in on the passenger side without disassembling the hub. But they stuck to their quote so I didn't care how long it took.

Is an alignment needed or recommended after the install?
