Default My 2004 Ram ST restoration/build thread

Long story short I picked her up for $2500 ust about 1 month ago and she runs perfectly with zero issues. She's got a 4.7L with 123,xxx miles on her, and came to me in pretty rough shape with a fair amount of rust and deep scratches down to the metal in some spots.

I picked her up, brought her home, changed the oil, plugs, wires, washed, and clayed her to see what I was really dealing with. I then decided to strip her down and re-spray her as part of my plans.

Here's what I have planned for her:

Exterior/Suspension:
-SRT-10 Hood
-Street Scene Front Bumper
-Black Projector headlights/Clear Corner lenses
-6000k HID’s
-Window Tint
-Repaint Bright White
-McGaughy's Suspension Parts 2” Front 4.5” Rear “44003” Drop Kit
-SRT-10 Satin Black 22” Wheels
-General Grabber UHP 305/40/22 Tires

Interior/Audio:
-Swap to Larami Sport Seats/Jump Seat
-Clarion Z302 Bluetooth Head Unit
-Infinity 5032cf 5 ” Rear Speakers
-Infinity 9633cf 6x9 Door Speakers
-Custom Sub Box
-JL 10W0v3-4 10” Subs
-JL JX250/1 Amplifier

I already installed an Aero Turbine AT3030 muffler which sounds awesome on the 4.7. I'm not concerned with performance mods until the rest of the truck is done anyway. I made the order for the SRT hood which should be at the dealership Friday. I also ordered the front bumper, projectors, HID kit, head unit, speakers, and got an awesome deal on a complete Larami Sport set of seats.

Here is how she sits as of right now, rust has been repaired, stripped, and sanded. I will be shooting her with primer tomorrow as long as it's nice out like the forecast calls for.

Pics of her all primed up to follow of course!

I had the day off today and made some really good progress. I should have the hood completely done tomorrow night after work, then I just have to wait for it to cure so I can wet sand and buff out the orange peel.

Sorry for the crappy quality of the pics, they were taken with my iPhone 5.

Got the truck fully primed today:

Pulled the factory seats out and put in the passenger and jump seat from a Larami SLT Sport I picked up for a steal. They look and feel so much better than the factory seats that were in there.

Also installed my deck and ran my cables from the receiver to the hole under the driver side seat where the harness for the seat belt comes out.

Also, picked up my SRT hood today and was able to get the base coat laid down.

I was able to get some time this morning and clear the hood so it is 100% finished. It's just baking in the sun now!

Nice to see! Too many people treat their vehicles like crap! Those General UHP's are excellent tires, wish they made them to fit my 20" rims.

Finally got a chance to get most of the truck sprayed. Ran out of paint so I couldn't do the bed. All of my product came from Automotivetouchup.com. This paint job was 100% rattle can and is damn near professional. I am beyond thrilled with the results here. This is BEFORE wetsanding and buffing as well!! 4 coats of primer, wet sanded with 600 grit, 5 coats of base, 30 minutes flash time, and then 4 coats of clear.

It's absolutely absurd that I can get this good of a paint job from a rattle can!!!!

Rattle can? I'm guessing your fingers are feeling like they want to fall off. Paint job looks good. For a rattle can, it looks great! Nice job.
