Default Strange Led issue

Hello there all. Ive been lurking here and learning lots. I finally got back into a ram about a year ago after trading my beloved 2001 quad sport 4x4 for a Jeep. I did like the jeep but was never real happy. Any way I have been picking away at mods since i purchased the ram. Its a 2010 crew bighorn 4x4 hemi anyway i installed the led license plate lights about a week ago and they worked flawless until one off them now is on so dim that you can barely just make out the individual chips lighting tried cleaning contacts and reversing bulb to no avail my only assumption is the bulb is toast but I would assume it would simply would nolonger work at all in that case. Any ideas

If you are getting some light out of the LED, then it could be as simple as a contact wire on the circuit board is not seated properly.

If you can open up the compartment where the LED's are mounted to the board and press on them, that could help solve your problem.

You can dim LED's if you have the proper driver and dimmer control, but that is usually reserved for the architectural or residential market and not the automotive.

How old is the system? Can you take it back to your point of purchase and get it replaced?

So long as you didn't buy them from a flea market you should be okay.
