Default The wifey is buying me my xmas gift, any suggestions?

So the fiancι complains every year how hard I am to buy for...well this year I have a brand ne 2013 Ram Sport, YAY ME! so its quite obvious what I want santa to have under the tree on that day...a mod for my truck.
She gave me a limit of $600, and I was thinking of a CAI. I want more power on take off, sick of those F-150 looking at me in their rear few.
My question to everyone is what the best bang for my buck would be for $600 without voiding warranty. if its a CAI what brand.?

You have a ton of options available to you....I went with the Mopar CAI.....I really like it however I didn't pay the full price....Dealer gave me a break on the price....I believe they are going for 500 regularly....There are other CAI'S out there and other members will chime in....Do some research and get what makes you happy.....

Good luck in your search.....

PS....Great gal you got.....That would be an awesome XMAS gift.....

You will laugh, but seriously, a 100 wet shot of nitrous. I ran it on my Ram for many years. It will take 1 sec of your quarter mile time. I ran 14.2 sec years ago at ETown in my otherwise stock(at the time) 4x4QC 345 hp Ram. The other thing that would cost less than $600 at least if you did the install would be a 2800 rpm stall TC. Spray a 100 shot right off the line, whee doggie! Tank fits under back seat in the 4 door Rams nicely. A cold air intake is a nice thing to have, but it takes more than 10 hp or so to really make a difference.

If you want a top quality CAI for a decent price check out S&B filters or Vararam. Either of those (depending on your taste) are the best intakes for a 4th gen Ram IMO.

Is there anything else that can give a guy a lit love more power n not void warranty. All I really no is. Catch can an throttle body spacer. Other then that sounds like everything is a warranty concern...th nks for the help guys!

Throttle body spacers are 100% useless on modern fuel injected engines. Don't waste your money on one of those. You'd be much better off putting your money towards a ported throttle body. A catch can is definitely a great mod though. Your engine will thank you for that one.

some of us are mod ignorant and I am seeing alot of abbreviations and nicknames for mods in this thread. Do you guys mind saying what some of these mods your talking about are in detail? What is a CAI?

To the original poster. A CAI is a good route to go, and you've had some good suggestions. Something to keep in mind, is that the stock air box has a pretty good set up out of the factory. A drop in filter such as K & N will save you a good chunk of change, and it will do almost the same thing performance wise, though you won't get the sound aspect of it.

Have you considered doing something with your exhaust? You should be able to fairly cheaply swap out the muffler or perhaps get a cat back system. I haven't done any pricing on the cat backs, but when I had the muffler swapped out on my '10 it cost me about $250 installed.

As far as voiding your warranty, there is a law out there that states that the mod must be found at fault in order to void a warranty, and then only that portion of that was affected by the mod.
i.e. if you change out your muffler, the muffler warranty is voided, but not the cat converter or other piping.

Good luck and be sure to keep us informed

Exco

i have yet to see any real info that a cai will add power, they sound good though. a tuner may be what you want, but some have had problems. my vote would be for a spray in liner and bed cover.
