Question weird aftermarket projector headlight question

So I've been looking for this answer forever but I cant figure it out!

When you buy aftermarket headlights (Some headlights will be different, I know, but theres probably a majority the same) most of them are 1 projector and 1 normal bulb. Which one is the high and which one is the low?

Do HIDs work with projectors? because I don'tttt think they do. But I would like to have some like, 10,000k bulbs in my lows and some nice 5000k in the highs, but I'm not sure if that will work...

Alright man, aftermarket headlights will mostly be the same lows will be projector highs will be reflector has for hids most aftermarket projectors will not be hid compatible unless you order them specifically, and I say most because there are always expections. As for your case you can buy headlights with low beam hids already installed and pick the color temp you would like ( the best one I have seen so far is pro tuning labs as far as selection goes) then for ypur 5k highs a good Sylvania bulb will give you a very close color rating

ahhhh yep. just went there! A few questions if you dont mind:

So the HID comes free with it? There wasnt any added price on the HID so i assume so.

What is the relay harness? Worth the Extra $30?

Why are there like 2 of each headlight? I think thats because some come with the Hid and some dont. haha

Relay harness are needed to prevent flickering due to the cambus system.. i don't know if your gen need them. I have on my current set, was needed. And there is the chrome and black of each headlight, and then also halogen projectors and hids projectors.

Yes the lights that ask you what color you want in your low beams with the preinstalled kit the price is included. As for the relay harness, like CHP mentioned if you have a canbus system the harness when include the required resistance plugs to avoid flickering and a bulb out like (which im not sure the 2nd gens have either one...) but more importantly it has a relay which is basically like a flood gate. You will wire the relay directly to the battery, and you will plug your factory harness into the relay so when you turn your lights on the new head lights will be powered directly from the battery and all the current will not be flowing through your dash. this also includes a fuse link so it eliminates the chances of causing damage to your trucks computer. IMO the relay harness is the only way to go, others say you dont need it (and technically they are right) but its like comparing using a condom to pulling out and which one is safer...

I went to JJ for the lights on my last Ram. He does amazing work!!. Only I don't want to go the HID route this time around. I only want a set of stock non projector quads painted black. I know he would do up a great set of lights but at almost 2 1/2 times the cost of some depos already blacked out it hard for me to justify it. If I wanted to go with retrofits again JJ would be my only choice.

My apologies bud, i miss understood you. as for just having a set painted you could always rip your set open and paint them black yourself it isnt hard to do and then the only expense is your paint of choice

ahhhh, It says the relay harness is suggested. But I didn't know if that was and "actual" suggestion or just to rip off another $30. And hurray for my sport model which needs another $20 harness... ahaha
