Default LED footwell light question

If I wanted to install footwell LEDs that strictly came on when my dome light did, would I just need to splice into my dome light wiring? I'm thinking I can just wire them to the dome light and not have to run any wiring to the battery or install a separate switch. Am I thinking right here?

Thanks!

Yes that is all you should have to do. Many people splice into the dome light circuit that way they are only powered when the dome light is on

Yep, that's it. Had mine done and that's exactly how they were wired in.

Check your left side dash, there is a cover the on the side dash you need to open your door to get it off, behind there you will find the Green connector for your doom and roof console lights, you can connect to there and then run your lights under the dash.

Read through my bed lighting thread HERE.
I have instructions for tapping into the dome circuit in both the 11/12's and the 13's.

You say right side, but I saw someone with the panel off on the driver side next to the head light cluster. Also, is there a tutorial for getting the panel off?

To get this panel off you need a screw driver or flat blade prytool. Be careful as you can mark it very easily. Once you have the tool in place it doesn't take much effort and it pops right off.

Your Express should look exactly like this...

Yellow is power, black is ground. This is the dome circuit and all the dimmer functions etc. will work if you pull power from here.

oops, the old right side, you are correct its the left side, wow, these meds sure screw me up haaaaaaaa , left side, left side.

Get yourself a plastic dash trim remover tool, the plastic on these trucks dent and scratch so easily. At the bottom of the panel is a small opening, start there and move your way up the outside it will pop off, then at the rear of the panel is a rib that holds behind the rubber, just put the panel at like 75 degree angle it will slide out. Oh and do all this on the LEFT SIDE

No worries. I'm assuming you can get these dash tools at the auto part store. I think this might be my first self installed mod.
