Default 8.4A Uconnect Radio Question

Hello everyone! I recently purchased a new 2013 RAM 1500 Bighorn 4x4 about a month ago, and I have a question that has been bugging me since I bought this truck. I can't seem to figure out for the life of me how to: 1) turn OFF the radio (not just mute it) while driving, and 2) make it so that the radio doesn't always come on when I start the truck up (i.e., such that I have to manually turn the radio on. If anyone knows the answer to my question, I'd greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks!

Someone seems to bring this up every few weeks. Seems ridiculous, but it isn't possible to turn off the radio. If you turn the volume all the way down it should remember that when you start it back up. Or maybe if you leave it on a media input that you don't have anything connected to.

The radio does not have a way to turn it off. You can make the screen turn off but not the radio itself. The reason is it is more than a radio. It is integrated into many systems. It tells the truck the many settings you can adjust. Go into settings and play with it. The radio is not just a radio anymore.

It's true that it is a computer and not just a radio, but the radio is a component of the computer. It would be possible for them to build a computer that lets you turn off the radio without turning off the whole computer. My cell phone is an MP3 player but it is possible to turn the music off. This isn't a big complaint for me personally, as I tend to always want the radio on. But I do think it is stupid that you can't turn it off.

Same here, I cannot turn off the radio ------But guess what ----Once it turned off and
and so indicated in the EVIC, stating RADIO OFF. I had turned it off with the manual vol button, but never again. The U-Connect manual states "Push the ON/OFF volume control knob to turn on the radio. Push the ON/OFF volume control knob a second time to turn off the radio".

So I believe there is a problem - the radio is not designed to stay on.

The 2013 radios never turn off completely
mostly because they are designed to receive downloads from the satellites when the ignition is not on, this is a new way of keeping the radio & computer up to date

when they finally get the APPS straightened out, you will start your Ram some morning & have fully functioning APPS

The audio feature of the 8.4 can be turned off by pushing the center of the volume button. The display can be turned off by pressing the "display off" button under the radio. Hope this helps.

Above is all true. I noticed today that pushing the volume button (mute) during media playing actually pauses the song playing. Just something I didnt notice before. Eccentially turning the radio off, except the screen, which has a seperate button.

That's just my point: The Uconnect manual states that the radio can be turned off, but there's no way to physically do it. I can't believe the engineers would be that stupid to overlook such a basic function.

Yea, they did overlook that...and yea, ram managers need to be fired because it is just plain stupidity that they didnt think to persist the state of the radii when the truck is shut off.
