Default Regret buying a Power Wagon

I bought a 2013 Power Wagon (5.8 hemi) about 5 weeks ago and am really regretting the purchase now. Anyone else hate there Power Wagon?

I love the look and driving the vehicle but the lack or power and crappy mpg is giving me a heart attack. I live in Colorado and this thing is just struggling getting up any kind of incline. Even the slightest incline just drains the power from the vehicle. Sure I can mash the peddle to the floor and get it going but then I am getting 2 mpg. I can literally watch my gas gauge go down as I am driving.

Seriously considering going back to the dealer this week and trade for a diesel. Just don't know how much of a loss I can stomach trading a 5 week old vehicle. I'm so frustrated with it it makes me mad every time I drive it now.

Just venting and wondering if anyone else has regrets about the Power Wagon?

why did you buy a big truck and expect to get good mpg ? I bought my truck to tow a 25' travel trailer knowing that i'd only get about 9 mpg and where can i get that5.8 hemi?

Typo, 5.7 hemi.

I didn't expect great mpg but there is no way in hell mine could pull a 25 ft trailer. Not even close. Mine is struggling getting up the mountains on its own. Are you getting 9 mpg towing?

yes I get 9-10 mpg towing and have hauled the trailer 2 times I 77 from Cleveland to Charlotte NC with no problems our 2011 Outdoorsman is rated at 10500 lbs for towing it handles the mountains through WV and Virginia pretty well

Are you kidding me? A 6,870 curb weight , high altitude, 4.56 gears, a gasoline engine, and you aren't pleased with the gas mileage?!

Maybe there is something wrong with mine then? I'm getting really frustrated with it. I'm barely getting 10 mpg towing nothing and it just bogs down on the slightest incline. Towing a 25ft trailer is completely out of the question with my truck. Not unless I want to get 2 mpg.

Not just the mpg, the complete lack of power. Yes the altitude is probably killing me. With that said my 07 F150 pulled better then this thing does. I would gladly trade mpg for power but I am getting neither.

Did your F150 weigh nearly 7,000 lbs and have 4 wheel drive with around 25% driveline losses?

The mean altitude in Colorado is 6,800 feet. A naturally aspirated Hemi would lose roughly 77 HP at the flywheel at 6800 feet. That leaves you with about 227HP at the wheels assuming 25% driveline loss.

That kind of altitude is what turbos were made for.

Now I don't have one of those puppies (but I'll have a Wagon someday). I've pulled through the same run of West Virginia mountains that pjs1660 has, and the diesel mpg was about 8 to the tolls in Charleston with tow/haul on uphill grades. I wouldn't jump on the diesel band wagon so quickly.

Isn't that Ford that's got that TURBO thing going? R...
