It is very hard to gauge hp and tq gains with an air intake as you really have to be driving to get the true numbers. LMI does not make any claims to hp or tq gains for that reason. We do know they produce gains, but I would be lying if I told you exactly what they were.

It depends on what you want to do with your vehicle when it comes to pulling in engine bay air. If you tow or do lots of low speed driving you want a more sealed intake, if you do lots of high speed driving then you will get better performance out of a short ram intake. The engine bay temps at highway speeds are at or just above ambient, it's the low speed stuff that has higher engine bay temps. I did a lot of logging on this with my old truck when I had the LMI hammer intake with the 6.1L intake manifold conversion.

Kurtis, you are the man. Thanks for chiming in, I am pretty sure you have the most experience with LMI on this forum.

I guess it doesn't rain much where he lives… bad design for a wet climate.

That's awesome looking. So is that using the bottom half of the stock air box and did the top part come as a kit?

It is the CAI that matches the APM ram air hood.

interesting.
do you have the ram air hood or does that box seal to the factory hood and the filter pulls air form the bottom?
