If you have separate bulbs for high and low, no you don't have to and I personally wouldn't recommend it. I know a lot of people do, but there is a few second warm up time and normally, for me anyway, when I hit the high beams I want light now, not in 5 seconds.

If the 14s only have one bulb that is both high and low, then you just get the one. I had a set in my motorcycle where the bulb physically moved back when you hit the high beams so the light shone higher.

Got it. The owner and I have already been emailing back and forth. Nice guy. Seems to know his stuff. Pricey but, as previously mentioned, with this kind of thing you get what you pay for. I don't like having to spend money twice.

For the Sport and higher packages, I thought it was a dual system -- One headlight on each side, and each one has a single lamp in it that's used for both low & high. The 70-mm projector has been around quite a while now.
But I can't find a thing to confirm this. I got an email from **************** trying to tell me to buy two sets - one for high and one for low. Not sure I trust that.

Yeah, I know the 13s have two bulbs with the projectors (projector lows and a seperate high bulb), but all the pics I have seen of the 14's makes it look like they got rid of the seperate high beam bulb... and add to that they are calling the lights "Bi-Halogen Projectors" on my build sheet, leads me to believe there got rid of the seperate bulbs.

The projector head lamps used for MY14 are the same as the MY13 lamps. The term "Bi-Halogen" simply means two halogen lamps are used, one for the low beams and one for the high beams.

1. In most branches of science bi- in composition denotes two, twice, or doubly; as, bidentate, two-toothed; biternate, doubly ternate, etc. [1913 Webster]

In this case it could mean that one lamp serves two purposes - both low and high beam. This is the how the bi-functional projectors work, by actually shifting the housing to adjust the cutoff. There is another lamp to supplement the high beam as well.

But the factory projectors do not have a shutter (the re-worked ones from retro have a shutter). For high beams, as said before, are a separate bulb but the projectors say on during high beam operation.

I had HID's in my '13. Just put HID's in my '14 last weekend.

Factory projectors do use a shutter. The second "high" bulb is more for flashing.
