Default Leak

I know this has been asked before, I just can't remember the answer. I was washing the truck over the weekend and as I was cleaning the rear windows insdie, I noticed a small leak. I believe it has been said it comes from the 3rd brake light. Am I correct? And I think the fix was to silicon around it? Thanks guys.

Usually is your 3rd brake light, pull it off and change the weather stripping, you can use silicon if you wish but your best bet is the weather strip. I found at home depot a ribbed rubber weather strip and replaced it with that.

Cool, thannks for the info. I thought that's what it was, I just wanted to make sure. I kept thinking to myself 'good, I don't have that problem' and now it seems I do. I don't want it to become a problem down the road.

Thanks again

I thought the same thing then was about to do it as a preventive measure down the road only to find out in a big rain storm this summer it leaked LOL so did it right away.

Maybe too late now but before you go pulling it off and changing out weather stripping just give the screws and turn or two tighter and see if that works. Worked on mine.

I thought it was the third brake light too when I noticed water marks on my window...ended up being the whole window seal. It was replaced under warranty, make sure you check...

Thanks for all the input guys. Well it turned out to be the 3rd brake light. I put some gasket stuff around it and it cleared that right up. It was a RECON 3rd brake light, and the seal wasn't really big. I don't know if the past few years it has dried up or something, but it was the culprit.
After I did all that, the 3rd brake light went out. As I tried to look at it, I broke it due the the liquid gasket I had put on. Oh well, back to stock for now.

There is a really nice rubberized ribbed gasket called K-profile, its made of EPDM rubber, you can get at home depot, snrusnak who told me about it, I put it all around the light, than all around the truck hole of the cab and matched them up, nice seal, Zero entry and it supposed to last life time, well not sure about who's life time but thats what it said on the box.
