Default Need Help Identifying a CAI

I bought my 2005 Ram 2500 about 4 months ago and it came with a CAI. I cant seem to find any markings on it showing who makes it. I was hoping someone could ID it from the attached picture. It looks like a cheap knockoff universal CAI that someone just clamped to the throttle body. I'm not a huge fan of the simply pipe with an open cone filter at the end of it, especially on a truck that gets used off road often.

^ That it does.. It looks like the $80 Ebay CAI special that everyone is selling. If you want a good enclosed CAI I reconmend the S&B CAI... Very good quality+ looks and works great.

Yup, S&B makes the best enclosed CAI on the market IMO.

I love mine... It always draws attention to when I pop the hood because it sticks out so much with the clear top.

I would venture to say that the stock airbox setup is more efficient than that "CAI". There obviously isn't anything "cold air" about it being stuck there in the open right with engine. Not to mention, who knows how much crap that no name filter is letting into your engine. I would remedy that quick myself....even quicker if your truck sees frequent off-road (dusty, dirty conditions, etc) like you said.

Definitely! I'll be putting one on my Cummins within the next few months. Just trying to decide if I want the big scoop for the bottom of it or not.

Does anyone have their stock airbox setup laying around that they wouldn't mind parting with? I'm trying to save up and buy a house this year and $300 on a new CAI set up just to replace this crap just isnt in my bank account. I dont have the stock airbox or setup because it didnt come with the truck. I'd rather go back to stock than keep this piece of crap.

I don't think I would have bought the truck if that intake were installed. Who knows what kind of filter is stuck on the end, and how well it's filtering? Remove the filter, and swipe the inside of the intake tube with a white paper towel. If it comes back clean, no worries (but still look for OE setup, or a good aftermarket intake).
