Default Any of you lifted guys use Amp Research or Bestop bedsteps?

I'm considering getting a bedstep for my Ram to make it easier to access my bed. Amp and Bestop both make a manual folding step that mounts on the rear, driver's side corner and folds underneath the rear bumper when not in use. They appear virtually identical so I was wondering if anyone has any experience with either. The Bestop is a little less money, but if the quality is less it wouldn't be worth the difference. Any opinions?

ive been thinking about one of these for the side. for the rear i just leave my adjustable hitch all the way down, makes for a good place to step

Someone on another forum posted a youtube video of a guy standing and rocking up and down on a Bestop step. The thing freaking broke off! Apparantly Bestop copied the Amp product and had it manufactured in China

This is why we push AMP.
Especially on the AMP powersteps.
Motor is double the size of Bestops and comes with a longer warranty

Yep, a local shop told me that had replaced motors on two Bestop powerboards but have never had any issues with any Amp powerboards.

I have the Amp Research Bedsteps on both sides of my truck and love them. They function very well. When recessed back under the truck, they are practiaclly invisible. I did not purchase the rear step at the time, only because I took a wait and see approach to determine how much I need to get in and out of the bed, to make it worthwhile. I am now considering getting one.

I have the bestep step.

It's been really solid. Despite seeing a few videos on youtube about it breaking, I bounced on it quite a bit & I've loaded weight plates & DBs (100 lbs DBs) and the step seems to hold up. ME + dumbbell is approaching 300 lbs.

Would I buy it again? I'd have to actively try the amp version before commenting. The Bestop can be lowerd with your foot, but you have to give it a little pressure, otherwise, it won't move. It's pretty stable in the lowered position & it's just the right size. I never miss the step when moving out of my bed. I don't even have to look.

You will see the step in the folded position. Not sure if the amp hides itself in the rear or not.

Hermes1, can you post a pic of your bedsteps for the sides? How easy was the install?

I went with the AMP Research Bedstep. It's pretty solid and installation was really easy.
