Default Staggered Tires on 4G

This is my thread so let me start by saying this forum is awesome. There are answers and suggestions for just about anything I could ever want. I own a 2012 regular cab express 2wd with 20x9 srt wheels currently on it. I just replaced the front two tires with 275/55r20 nitto nt420s and was wondering how a 305/50r20 would do on the back. I plan on doing a 2/4 drop very soon but I'm gonna replace my back tires soon. Just wondering if the advantages would outweigh the disadvantages. My mods are as follows: v6 fan, mopar intake, DS trinity 93 tune, cherry bomb single chamber muffler, and 1.5 coils cut in the rear. Any input would be appreciated. I've tried searching but couldn't really find the information I was looking for.

I do daily drive my truck but take it to 1/8 mile tracks occasionally. I don't want to swap wheels when I get there even though 17's would do a lot better. I'd rather just lower the air pressure down to about 15 and then air em up when it's times to leave.

I have 305/50R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers (street)
on stock 20x9 Chrome clads weigh in at over 90lbs per corner
(Lowered RCSB 4x4 with 3.55 gears)

She runs 14.4's in good air at 2300' with my mod's (listed in sig)

My Best time on Four 295/45R17 Drag Radials in AWD (4-auto)
on 17"x9" Moto Metal wheels (60lbs per corner, 27.5" tall)

13.89/98.5mph

...and that's at 2500' DA, corrected = 13.4/102

So ya, 17's and 27.5" tall DR's drop a half second for me

lighter weight by 120lbs (every 100lbs = 1/10th)
lowers ride height 2.75" (better aerodynamics)
less rolling rotating mass
less rolling resistance
better traction with sticky DRs'
effective gear ratio drops from 3.55 to 4.30:1

Those tire sizes are pretty much identical in height so you should be fine there. You will obviously see a little bit better traction with the 305 rear tires....they are over an inch wider than the 275. The only real drawback I see is not being able to rotate them.

I can still rotate em from the left to right because they're not directional tires. Hopefully there's even wear on the fronts lol

^^^this would be the biggest problem.

Rotating side to side doesn't really help much. You need to be able to rotate front to back so that you can give the tires on the steering/cornering axle a break from wearing in a specific pattern, and vice versa for the rears.

I've seen 4g' with staggered tires on staggered wheels (typically 9"f 10"r) but never staggered tires with the same wheels. I'd be interested to see how it looks but I'm not sure it would look that great. Seems like the profile would be off, too much sidewall bubble, don't know if it would give you the staggered look you may be after. I really want to see this setup though, so I'd say go for it.

The 275's fit pretty flush on the 9" rim, but you can go as low as 255, and high as 305 on that rim. The 305's will bubble out just a bit, but I have seen several guys run this, and it don't look bad, and wont noticably affect the side to side transitioning, a little on very hard corners. A hell of a lot cheaper than a new rim!

I am planning on running a 10" wide rim with 285's on the front, and 305's on the rear. This staggering I have had on two of my previous corvettes, and I have put over 75000 miles with no odd wear patterns on that car, just as long as you are sure your alignment is correct, you should have pretty damn even wear!
