Default Lift kits and tire sizes

Hey Everyone. I'm new here and in the market for a dodge ram (never owned one). I am looking at a 2010 or 2011 ram 1500 and I"m going to lift it 6 inches. I guess this is a 2 part question. First what brand of lift do you guys think is the best kind and why? and my main question is what size tires and wheels with a 6 inch lift. I'm thinking either 315 or 325's and 18 or 20 inch rims. I can't decide with would look best so if anyone has a truck that fit's this description could you please post pics and tell about your lift and tire and wheel size?

There are a lot of options for a six inch lift. You have BDS, RCX, Procomp, Zone, and a few other companies. I myself will be going BDS, even tho they are a bit more expensive I think the quality is great. 315 or 325 will look good with a 6" but most people go with a 37" tire. It is very proportional and the 37s look great. Being your looking at a 2010-2011 gears will be easy to do so I would recommend the 37s. Check out the threads at the top of the lifted section that are sticky, there are tons of pics in those threads. Also, for pricing for anything check out bully's performance. They take care of us forum guys. Welcome to the Z! If you have any other questions just shoot them out there, good luck with your ram!

Great post from Campbell above ^^

I would also recommend BDS if you want a good lift kit for your truck. It's also backed by their "no fine print" lifetime warranty which is a very nice thing to have. They are more expensive than Rough Country though so if you want to stay on the cheaper side I'd suggest the 6" RCX lift. I had it on my 1500 and didn't have any issues with it.

Depending on exactly how high you want to lift it you could get away with a few different tire sizes. If you are going with just the 6" kit and that's it you could do either 35's or 37's. If you plan to add Bilsteins to level out the lift properly I'd definitely recommend going for the 37's.

Here's a link to my 1500 lifted - 6" RCX lift with Bilsteins at 1.4" Installed on 35's

Brandonjansen that is a good looking truck! I do really like the look of 37's, but I have had lifted trucks all my life so I can't give that up, but I will be driving this truck on the hwy some and in town some and I'm trying to find that happy place in the middle and I think the 35's would serve me better than 37's. I would love to see one of each in person but not many around my town have them. Thanks for the info guys.

Have you considered a 4" lift as well as maybe a happy medium?

I have but I have been looking at pics of 6 inch lift with 35's for days on google images and that's more the look I want. I love the extra clearance. The only thing I wonder is do I need to add a leveling kit also or will the 6 inch lift on it's own still look good. I can't find images of 6 inch lifts that specify if they have been leveled also or not.
