I would just delet the y pipe and run true duals all the way but the price of pipe isn't bad here not sure about where you are but here it's 22 bucks for an 8 foot piece of 2.5 inch so 44 bucks and the cost I a muffler and you'll have a higher flowing system dont have to worry about it later if you decide to add a cam or whatever else that's what I did on mine and ran 2 8 inch glass packs to kill some of the popping an ran it out in front of the passenger tire no regrets so far sounds great and my mpg went up abou 2.5 with the y pipe mod I only gain 1 mpg so it's worth it to me

I finally got mine installed today for only $80 after hearing nothing but $150-$200 quotes I was super excited! Little better throttle response I think. Made the exhaust note just a touch deeper as well. Very happy to finally get it done after having the Y pipe sit in my back seat for few months.

Maybe I should move out your way, cheapest near Philly is $150ish.

When I had my Titan, I got a cat back from Stillen. They designed a system that eliminated the Y-pipe. Ran 2 pipes into the muffler and 2 out or 1 out depending on what you wanted. But they dyno'ed many configurations and figured the Y-pipe was restrictive. But some engines like a little back pressure, so it depends on the breathing ability of the engine. my Nissan had 4 valves/cyl. this has 2. who knows. all the companies can do is dyno different systems and see what gives you more HP/ Tq and where the sweet spots are in the bands.
