Default magnaflow muffers

Hey,

Im trying to decide on which muffler to get, A muffler shop told me that every magnaflow muffler is the same just the size 14, 18, 22inch change the sounds. But what about the round vs oval? Im currently looking at the 14inch oval magnaflow muffler from autoanything. Some videos i watch with a 14 sound awesome others sound stock, idk i plan on removing atleast the rear resinator so im hoping it will sound good. Any thoughts?

Thanks
Jeff

I had a 22" Oval MF. If I did it again with another MF I'd try the 18", the 22" didn't have any rumble to it at all, I had it on for 5 months and my coworkers & wife didn't even know I had done any exhaust work.

I have the 18" (w/ resonators), and it is noticeably louder and sounds 100% better. I think you might be happy w/ the 14" and leaving on the resonators. You can always chop 'em off if you're not. Just expect some drone to go with it.

The 18 seems to be very popular.

I have the 22 and have been thinking about taking out the res.

It has a good tone now with no drone on highway, but I am wondering if it will cause a drone without the res.

I think your thinking of the "glasspack" mufflers when saying the round ones. I was actually looking into one of thoes but my muffler needed an offset and I knew how flowmasters sounded so I went with a FM super 40.. Sometimes I wish I got a magnaflow just bc they flow so much better and wait until I got true duals to get FM.

I went back and forth...and ended up with the 18" as I didn't want it to be loud. The 18" is just a bit over stock at idle. On the throttle its noticeably louder but not bad. Some drone but not bad as compared to a FM. Depends where the Y and muffler are placed.
I'd like more at idle but happy with the sound on the throttle. Considering pulling the resonators off but don't want more sound in the cab - just more at idle.

I've got a 14" MF with the reso's removed and it sounds mean as hell. I just switched from the 18" because it was too quiet for me. The only time I can tell the 14" is louder than the 18" is when I really get on the gas. While cruising, interior resonance is minimal and sometimes non-existent. Hope that helps you a bit.
