Default Broken leaf spring

I have a 2000 ram 1500 sport 4x4. The bracket holding the leaf spring to the shackle broke in half the other day. I've been told by a few people i can just weld it back to the shackle but I'm not convinced that a weld will hold up for very long if at all.

Anybody had similar issues?

Is it worth welding or should i just replace the whole thing?

Front or rear?

When I got my truck the brackets in the rear were non-existent and the springs had ripped the bed off the frame.

I burned the rivets out in the rear frame hangers and just replaced them.

If it's hitting the bed you're going to have a lump.

It's not a real difficult/long job.
