Default After market headlamps

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the help with the trans problem !

Next question. The headlights on my year 2000, 2500 Ram in my opinion are not that great, not helped perhaps as they point to the other side of the road over here. I've tried to find some better options on the internet but really can't be sure they'll fit or whether they'll be better !

I'm coming over to your side of the pond later this year and hoped to pick some up. Any recommendations for after market units that will give a better light pattern/penetration etc ? Even makes/model to avoid would be useful !

Thanks in advance for any help.

Stebbo

Are you needing just the headlight or the whole assembly?

This, I think is where I'll have to be careful with my terminology. Two countries with a common language etc !

I was hoping to change at the very least, the reflector and the glass of the main headlight. However the problem gets worse. In order to meet British law the old reflectors had to be drilled in the back to accept a 'white sidelight' as there was nowhere else it could go. The only other light being the indicator which can only be used as a flashing amber light.

Looking at the various headlight 'clusters' on a couple of web sites it seems that they will include : ~ main/dipped (possibly separate) side and indicator. The problem is being sure they will fit as I won't really have an exchange option once I get them home !

So in answer to your question,. Yes I guess it must be the whole unit that I'm after !

Why not just install the what I call the Blue or bright white bulbs? I forget who makes them but they are used now on many of the newer vehicles until the LED thing started a year or so ago.
There just a brighter whiter light. That looks blue in the distance when you see them head on.

I've tried some Sylvania Silverstars which are reckoned on being 'up to 50% brighter, 40% longer and a 50% wider pattern' with very little improvement, so that's why I thought some modern day technology must help. At least it would give me some new shinier reflectors.

I would convert to the sport headlight setup. Clear lenses and they have a separate bulb for highs and lows making a total of 4 bulbs.

Or you can try an HID kit.

If you decide to go with projectors, don't cheap out and go with the ebay ones to save cash. The fit and quality are usually pretty bad, and light output isn't great

I like the sound of the projectors. I hadn't thought of HID's because I'm sure I'd read somewhere that there could be a problem regarding the wiring not being heavy enough for the extra current needed ?

Any particular brand names that you'd recommend / avoid ? I've looked at 'Auto Anything' at the top of the page and get thoroughly confused by the options on offer !

Well with the HID setup its pretty easy to setup you just have to get the whole kit to do it and you would be ok they send you everything to do it your self or have a shop to do its just a matter of how much time you have and stuff

I had no idea there were HID kits that included everything. Have you got any web sites or specific makes you'd recommend ?
