Default ARH headers install

Thanks to Discount Auto Performance, for a great price on an awesome product with fast shipping. Ordered them on a Monday and received the headers the following Monday.


Now for the install, we did use a lift. But to show how easy install was, we left the tires on and did not remove the fender wells. So this kit can be installed in anyone's garage or driveway. First remove the dip stick, it's just two bolts, and set it aside. Now remove the O2 sensors, This kit comes with a mid-pipe and custom Y-pipe. So I used a sawzall to cut out the piping. One cut directly behind the stock Y-pipe and cut directly in front of cats. Then drop the old piping out of the way. Now you can pick a side to start removing manifolds. Driver side is easiest, so I saved it for last. Start by removing the heat shields from the manifolds, to reveal the manifold bolts. Once all the bolts are removed, you can drop the manifold out of the way. We used a good set of rachet wrenches since we were not going through the fender walls.


Now for the install, make sure the heads are clean and start the bottom row of header bolts, because the headers are notched. Put gaskets in place, we used some copper gasket seal. Set the headers in on the bottom row of bolts. When tightening headers start from the middle and work your way out, back and forth. To be sure not to warp anything. After you have both sides on, you can start with the mid-pipe and the custom Y. Make sure you put your clamps on first and get your piping in place. Mark the three inch stock pipe to cut for Y install. Don't cut to much. I used a rubber hammer to bump it all snug before clamping down. Put your O2 extensions on that come with the kit, and put sensors in. Now you can reinstall the dip stick. It will go up through the middle of the driver side header. There only be one bolt to hold it on, since one of the brackets was bolted to the old manifolds. You will need to check the clearance on the shift cable, I used a zip tie to get good clearance away from the headers. Also make sure the O2 sensor wires are clear from the piping. Now take her around the block a few times, making sure to open it up. After a few laps around the block, you can recheck the header bolts. Starting in the middle and work your way out tightening. These are some awesome headers, with noticeable performance gains. And only took three hours to install.

Quick question i know back in the day you had to paint or wrap headers or they would rust to shit in no time how bout now is it still that way or are these coated.

Another question those damn things look good heres question looks like everything is bolt and clamp now what if your muffler is welded on do you have to cut it and reweld it. Can you post pics of where its hooked up to the muffler.

I know how it all hooks up im just curious about after the y did you just clamp the muffler back on or what


Remember im old school headers straight 3'' pipe and no mufflers lol old school here

There is about two foot of piping in between the Y and muffler. So you don't even have to touch the muffler.
