A little over an hour. They were also checking a headlight electrical issue, but I think that took longer than the pinion nut check

Dodge maintains a website where you can enter the last 8 characters of your VIN and see any outstanding recalls. On the left click "recall information" and on the next page at the bottom is where you enter the characters

I made an appointment today for my dad's truck to get his pinion nut replaced tomorrow morning while he is out of town. The appointment is at 0800, and they said they'll have it most of the day. I think that's just because they're going to be busy though, the service manager said he hadn't seen one yet that needed any more work than just replacing the pinion nut. Its not like anyone will need to drive it tomorrow anyway. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Got mine done today...less than one hour and no issues on mine. Can't really see the retainer; I may crawl under the truck tonight to see what they did.

Got mine done last Wednesday. The dealer said that only ever had one that failed, and they ended up doing a full rebuild on that rear.

I bought my truck in August and wasn't advised of anything with recalls. I was driving the truck home a couple months later and while going highway speed the whole truck started to rumble and all of a sudden started fish tailing and had no brakes. Finally came to a stop and got out to check what happened and saw that the drive shaft was laying on the ground. Called the dealership the next day to see whats going on and apparently it was due to a recall. I checked the records and less than a year ago the recall "fix" was applied however the part wasn't replaced. Needless to say i was not pleased but just happy they fixed it all. Not a fun experience to go through.

Thanks for that help... I checked that out today finally, and according to that link it shows the only outstanding recall is go figure.. the stupid pinion nut recall is still incomplete.. Am going to be contacting the dealer anyways about my plates, since my temp tags are about to expire and I still haven't heard anything about my perm. plates.. So guess I'll try and setup an appointment to get this recall taken care of before it goes bad, especially on the highway... Thanks again for that website.. I had heard of something like that before, but couldn't find the site again..

I had my 09 Laramie in last week to have it looked at. The mechanic said that he had to re tighten the pinion nut as a temporary fix till the parts come in. They are doing a rebuild.

Good luck getting it fixed in the next 10 months....I got my recall in March...parts not available until Dec...then mine didn't require anything but the retainer....
If he re-tightened the pinion nut, it needs a full rebuild.
